Tips For Storing Hose Fittings

Whether you are a large factory that has a great deal of hose fittings available in case you need to change hoses or replace a fitting, or a customer who needs to purchase a large amount and isn't going to be able to sell them right away, you need to be sure that you know how to store them. Here are some tips.
1. Keep Them Separated
When you order a supply of hose fittings, you are going to receive them separated. You aren't going to have different sizes mixed together. If you keep it this way, you will be able to ensure that you are able to grab hose fittings at a moment's notice should you need to make a quick change. If you are constantly switching up your hose fittings and don't have enough of any single type to make a separate drawer filled with them, you can always take water-resistant paint and paint one side or a dot on each in order to denote its size. You don't want workers to have to keep running to the stockroom and back multiple times to swap out hose fittings when they accidentally bring the wrong ones.
2. Store Them In Acid Free Paper
If you have only a single drawer to store your fittings and are not able to paint them for whatever reason, you can always store them in layers using acid free paper. Take the largest hose fittings and place them on the bottom of the drawer. Cover the fittings with a layer of acid free paper. Then, add the second largest fittings. Keep moving up. Label the corner of each piece of paper the size of the fitting that is beneath it. This will allow you to keep your fittings separated and be able to grab the correct ones quickly. Using acid free paper will help soak up any condensation or moisture that might be around, allowing you to avoid having to deal with corrosion. You want paper that's acid free in order to be sure that you don't accidentally transfer any harmful chemicals onto your fittings.
3. Avoid Plastic Bags Without Paper
Finally, if you decide that you absolutely need to keep your fittings separate and want to use bags to do it, try to avoid plastic bags. Plastic bags trap moisture rather than absorb it, and fittings that are stored in such bags will corrode more quickly. Avoid this by simply storing your fittings wrapped in acid free paper within the plastic bags since the paper will absorb errant moisture or simply use paper bags.
